Flooded Basement in Union, Kentucky
During heavy rains, the sump pump in this Union, Kentucky home failed leaving the homeowner with a flooded basement. The basement was finished, so this meant that the carpeting, padding, and walls were all damaged. Once arriving onsite, the SERVPRO of Boone County water technicians determined that it was necessary to entirely remove the carpet and padding. They also removed the baseboards so that they could drill holes in the lower portions of the drywall. These holes help ensure that the wall cavities dry during the restoration process. Once the demolition was complete, the technicians set up air movers and dehumidifiers in the area. They monitored the equipment by taking atmospheric readings. Once the readings indicated the areas were dry, the equipment was removed and the basement was prepared for structural repairs to begin.
