Toilet Overflow Causes Water Damage in Hebron, Kentucky

The water damage at this home in Hebron, Kentucky was caused when the toilet in the upstairs bathroom overflowed. In the upstairs bedroom, the carpeted flooring, walls and baseboards were all wet. In the bathroom, the flooring and baseboards as well as the areas under the shower and sink vanity were wet. SERVPRO of Boone County received the call for mitigation services and responded quickly. After a water damage event, it is very important to dry the affected area quickly and completely in order to prevent further damage such as mold. For the area shown in the photos, the technicians needed to detach the baseboards, the vanity unit and sink, and the toilet. They also removed the vinyl flooring and the underlayment and bagged for disposal. An anti-microbial agent was also applied to all the surfaces in order to help prevent mold growth. The SERVPRO air movers and dehumidifiers were set up and monitored until the dryout process was complete. Once complete, all debris was hauled away, the drying equipment was removed and the bathroom was ready to be put back together.
